Light Control: From View-Through to Total Blackout

Custom Fabric Opacity Options

The right fabric dictates the function of your roller blind. Winlor offers three primary opacity levels:

Sunscreen (Sheer)
Made with varying degrees of openness factors (e.g., 1%, 3%, 5%). Blocks heat and UV rays while retaining an exterior view. Perfect for sun-facing rooms and offices.
Light Filtering (Semi-Opaque)
Provides privacy and soft, diffused light, eliminating glare. You cannot see through them from the outside or the inside, but the room remains bright.
Blackout (Opaque)
An opaque coating blocks 99-100% of light, ensuring total darkness. Essential for bedrooms, home theatres, and media rooms in Vaughan and Oakville.
Roller-Solar Sahdes for home and office Roller Blinds: Block full ligh or harsh UV rays and heat while preserving your view.

Hardware & Operating Systems

The headrail system is crucial for both aesthetic quality and function. We provide three superior operating options:

Motorization (Smart Control)
The most convenient option. Control your shades via remote, wall switch, or integrate them into your smart home system (Alexa, Google Home). Excellent for large banks of windows.
Cordless (Lift Assist)
The safest and cleanest manual option. Simply push up or pull down on the bottom rail. Required for homes with children and pets to meet safety standards.
Continuous Chain Loop
Durable, heavy-duty operation ideal for very wide or tall windows. The chain loop remains at a constant length, minimizing potential hazards (when secured with a safety tensioner).

Aesthetic Headrail Options

Open Roll (Standard)
The most minimal look, where the fabric roll and operational mechanisms are left exposed at the top. Simple and budget-friendly.
Cassette/Fascia
A stylish aluminum cover that conceals the roller mechanism and fabric roll when raised. Provides a premium, finished look and helps minimize light gaps, especially in blackout applications.

FAQs About Roller Blinds

What is the difference between Roller Blinds and Sunscreen Shades?

Roller Blinds are a general term that includes all fabrics. Sunscreen Shades are a specific type of roller blind fabric made from PVC-coated polyester mesh, designed to block UV rays and heat while preserving your view outside. They are energy efficient without blocking natural daylight.

Are Roller Blinds suitable for bedrooms?

Yes. When chosen in a blackout fabric and paired with a cassette or specialty side channels, they provide near total darkness, making them one of the most effective and aesthetically clean options for bedrooms and media rooms.

Can Roller Blinds be motorized?

Roller blinds are one of the most commonly motorized window coverings due to their simple rolling motion. We offer battery-powered, cordless motorization, which is ideal for large or hard-to-reach windows and smart home integration (refer to our Motorized Blinds page for details).
